It's a good idea to have a convention blog. But unfortunately I've heard about this only after the convention ended. Perhaps more publicity will help next year.

Thank you for your comment. This was mostly an experiment and I hope to have a blog for the San Diego convention and promote it earlier.

Poster Session 2006
The poster session was a nice innovation; the opportunity for in-depth conversations was excellent. But almost no one attended. Let's have a dialogue on how to improve next year.

To start things off, some ideas:
1. center the posters in the hall so everyone notices them;
2. stagger the hours so posters are not changed during breaks;
3. have a 'chair' for each poster session to check on folks ahead of the conference (this time, about half the posters never appeared);
4. suggest that the poster session chairs have themes to help focus interest;
5. consider tying poster themes to panel themes and announcing them at panels;
6. many posters did not follow the ISA guidelines; instead, they frequently posted typed pages of text; chairs should require advance copies, provide advice on style, and have right to reject ones that aren't prepared.
